Monodrama

On their return from a guest appearance in Macedonia, upon entering Serbia, members of Dogma Theatre were subjected to a customs search, during which customs officials discovered among the props a starter gas gun used in the performance “Višegrad -1”. According to the expert opinion of the National Centre for Forensic Sciences, it was established that the weapon is a convertible weapon, which can be possessed and carried in the Republic of Serbia only on the basis of a permit issued by a state authority. The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in the town of Vranje, charged the owner of the vehicle, Kamil Bystricky, with the offence of illegal manufacture, possession, carrying and trafficking of weapons and explosives and asked the court to impose a one-year prison sentence and to pay the costs of the court proceedings.

How do we perceive time and space if we are isolated from everything we have taken for granted by the intervention of an external force? What creates our identity? What is the relationship between reality and illusion? What is freedom, anyway? Is it somehow related to time? Kamil Bystrický’s monodrama is a record of the fragmentation of a sometimes holistic perception of presence and existence.
